Such was the case with Crystal Beekman who recalls that a book inspired her to pursue a new career: real estate.
As the story goes, she and loved ones were vacationing in North Myrtle when she picked up a beach read, and the heroine just happened to be a Realtor. The book ended up getting passed around to family members who remarked that the character’s determination reminded them of Crystal. And, by the way, they said she would make a great Realtor, too.

Prior to real estate, Crystal honed her management and problem-solving skills at long stints with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and AAFES on Fort Bragg (now Liberty). In 2005, she volunteered her skills for six months in Afghanistan.
When she isn’t working, Crystal enjoys spending time with her husband, who works on Fort Liberty, a teenage son, and twin daughters who are both E4 petty officers in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier based in Norfolk, Virginia.
When asked to describe herself in five words, Crystals responds, “Kind, caring, generous, thoughtful and loving.”
